I, like you came from a decently well off family, and was taught to work for what I wanted.  Unfortunately, things didn’t turn out like I was told they would.  My parents decided to get a divorce 2 weeks after I went to college, and my dad disowned me for being my own person (nothing crazy, just not doing exactly as he demanded), and I could now not pay for school, since my dad made too much for me to get financial aid, but he wasn’t sharing.  So I started over, with nothing but a 15 year old car, a 3 year old computer, and a hamper full of clothes.  It took me SIX YEARS to save up enough to go back to school, and now the major I had before? Discontinued due to budget cuts due to the economy.  The money my grandfather set aside for me to go to school? Gone.  I think you have a good head on your shoulders, but you need to step out of your little bubble, and see what the rest of the country is really like.  Some would say those six years were a waste of my time, but I would not trade them for anything.  There is more to life than work, and more to the world than you know.  Stand with your brothers.  We are all one people, the only way we get anywhere is together.

Yes you are.  You probably have never met anyone who is not in the 99%.  If you do not have a college degree, you are in the 99%.  If you do not drive a luxury car, you are in the 99%.  If you have to worry about money, EVER, then you are in the 99%. Being 99% is not a political statement.  It is a statement of acknowledgement of our standing in this country.  We, the 99%, are the working class, the small business owners, the students, the housewives, the firefighters, the police, the paramedics, the teachers, the janitors, and everyone else who is not in a position of power over many others.

Good for you!  You have done well.  But just because you have, doesn’t mean that people who haven’t are lazy.  Or that they feel entitled.  99%ers do not feel entitled. We feel lied to, betrayed, used, and discarded.  We were told college would lead to jobs.  We were told the sky was the limit.  But 50 hour weeks at any job available aren’t saving those that have them.  What are those who can’t find a job supposed to do? Look harder?  You can look as hard as you want, you cannot find something that does not exist.

I have been working since I was 11. The end.

Make your life easier.  Hire a 99%er to do some work for you.  Believe me they would be happy to.  If you can’t afford to, then maybe you should reconsider your position.

She’s a corporation.

Hon, unless you are pulling down some serious cash with your businesses, you are still in the 99%.  That is the point.  the 99% is everyone who has to work to pay their bills, who has to worry about food, rent, car payments, mortgage, college tuition, health insurance, or employment.  If you worry about any of these at any point, you are 99%.  The 1% have so much money that none of these things are worries.
P.S.  You cannot be a Corporation.  you can own one, but not BE one.

No, you are not an evil rich person.  You are a dupe.  We WANT jobs.  We WANT to run a business.  We DO work, every day.  Only when you do not have a job, “working” is more complicated.  Right now, my “job” is to go to school full time to get my Engineering degree, while posting fliers everywhere trying to find customers for my garage-based computer repair business, and trying to assemble a team of likeminded, forward-thinking students to get together to start a company.  I can’t start one on my own, because I have no money, I have been living paycheck to paycheck since I graduated high school.  That is normal here, no one has any money, and every student has world-changing dreams, if only they could find the money to get started.  EVERY student I have met is desperate for any job, any opportunity.  There are NO JOBS!

I am the 53.

of course you are not complaining.  if i had your life i would not complain either.  I would, however, be doing something to help those whose parents are not rich.  My parents both have college degrees, but they are also divorced, both underwater on separate houses, and in no position to help me.  I have worked every job i can get for the last 7 years trying to pay my way through college.  I have lived in some of the worst places in the country because its all i could afford.  I have had nothing but bad breaks for the last 10 years, and yes, some of them are my fault, but many of them are due to things entirely beyond my control.

By the way, having your parents pay for your life is not being successful, its being spoiled.  You aren’t the 53%, you are the 1%.  And your attitude reflects that.
